reminded, it wouldn´t be surprising, if they were big in business
soon…’
- Nu-Soul online Magazin: ‘With a vast amount of knowledge in their
front pockets, the duo has made soul and loungey electronica into
musical neighbors. Thus they have created the type of music that is
played in those dimly lit hole in the wall spots that look like nothing on
the outside, but are actually something inside….this album is full of
artists that wear the tracks like jewelry: simultaneously complimentary.’

Somewhere between a gorgeous and sexy, late summer sunset and a hot, sweaty soul music dance floor, lays the very complex debut release from Channel Two. In 2002, producers / musicians, Andreas Bingel (Hamburg, Germany) and Terence Yoshiaki (Los Angeles, U.S.A.) first collaborated on a song called ‘Across Waters’, which has since been featured on various compilations in both Europe and the U.S..

Terence Yoshiaki was a founding member and drummer of the multi-platinum recording artists, The Black Eyed Peas, and helped to define a groundbreaking sound and vision for the group. Yoshiaki also co-penned the Grammy winning Top 10 hit single, ‘Let’s Get It Started’, which earned him a 2004 Grammy. Andreas Bingel, an artist, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer, started his music career with the Ich-Zwerg project in 1995, later signed to Mercury Records (Germany) in 1998-2001 releasing an EP, and album and two singles with videos being played on MTV and Viva (Germany). Since then, he’s started the Deja-Move/Downbeat projects in 2001, simmered the industry with the album, Sunday (5000 Records) out of London, and also released a number of songs worldwide through compilations on labels such as Sony Music (Germany), Wagram (France), Universal (France) and many international imprints. Producers Terence and Andreas both brought in their knowledge and wide range of contacts, including Kajmere Sound Recordings, to make Channel Two as stylish as any nouveau sound-system can be. Between their combining strengths of American Soul Music and European Electro Music, it’s bound to happen.

‘We want to transport the feeling of good soul music regardless of the label or genre that may be put on it’, says Andreas. ‘Our musical tastes are so widespread yet very similar, so that after 3 years of visiting each other, sharing ideas and files and working out the music in both of our own studios, it was time to let the people listen to our own slice of musical thought.’ The result was a record is equal parts hip hop, soul, and instrumental nu soul jazz, all within a dance and pop sensibility that could easily cross over to larger commercial radio audiences. Featured on this album are artful contributions by the likes of Tre Hardson (The Pharcyde), Ming (The Spooks), Partice from Germany, Kim Hill, NFA (1200 Techniques) from Australia, rapper Apl (B.E.P.), and singer songstress Terry Dexter, just to name a few.

Hotel Costes (Wagram / F), Brazilectro (Audipharm / Spv), Sony, Universal etc.
