about

Bas himself has the Jazz, loves the Big Band feeling, is sometimes funky, sometimes Caribbean, most times black and sometimes white, but always aware of keeping his ʻold schoolʼ flavour.

After his successful debutalbum ʻTruncate It Rightʼ, that amazed Djs, Collegues and critics from Germany, Spain and all over Europe up to Japan, the 2nd album follows: ʻAnd The Beat Goes On’. This album is specially dedicated to the cinematic themes and those of the 50ies, even though it stays in the typical rare and floor-compatible Lexter-shape. Starting with ʻThe Revivalʼ the record is making you snip with the music. Youʼll hardly be able to stop smiling later while listening to the Japanese vocal adaption ʻNipponside Winderʼ. ʻJazzy, warm and groovyʼ, thatʼs the way ʻBelezaʼ and ʻDo Rightʼ are completing the picture. In the last 3rd of the record you will flow into calm fileds with tracks like ʻLightʼ or ʻGlass Manouvreʼ which is a beautiful orchestral-weighed tune. Of course, the album finishes with the track ʻGoodbyeʼ that might remind you a little of ʻMobyʼ.

It is not easy to name or to categorize a sound. ‘The Bas Lexter Ensample’ has a unique style for sure, an unbelievable setup of samples and vinylistic atmospheres, being touched by and mixed up with a lot of different kinds of styles and genres. Bas Lexter was dis- covered by Nokia France and his tunes were released on different 12” vinyls (Resense/Yo Mama/Universal). Beyond his own releases, Bas produced music for Ganesha & Ragga D., and for Asher D. /Music of Life.
_______________________________________________________

Machwerk: ‘And The Beat Goes Onʼ.
